Community Futures 16/37 helps the new entrepreneur who wants to start a business or an existing entrepreneur who wants to maintain or expand an existing business.
Business loans are available from Community Futures16/37 through a variety of programs. We are a complementary lender and can assist access to funds from several funding sources.
Community Futures 16/37 Business Development Loans
Business Development loans through Community Futures 16/37 are available up to $150,000. Applicants must develop a viable business plan and provide adequate security for the loan amount in order to qualify for a loan. Our Business Analysts can assist with business plan development as part of the application process. Term of these loans is to a maximum of 5 years. Amorization period may vary. Businesses and communities that lie within our service area are eligible for assistance. Businesses seeking financing are expected to contribute to the local economic growth by creating or maintaining employment. A financial contribution by the business owner(s) is required.

Business Development loans may be accessed through one of the following programs:
BDC Fund – General business development loans in non-targeted areas for starting or developing your business.
EDP Program – Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program offers small business loans to self-identified persons with a disability and may be for starting or growing their business.
Youth Entrepreneur Program – targeted for Entrepreneurs age 19 - 29 to start or grow their business. The Program will help you develop a comprehensive business plan and develop your business ideas.
Community Business Loans Program –Includes:
- Forest Sector
- Aquaculture
- Manufacturing
- Tourism
- Developing or using clean or renewable energy
- Developing innovative technology or using technology in an innovative manner
- Beginning or expanding the export of goods or services from BC
Fisheries Fund – dedicated toward support of traditional commercial and sports fisheries.
