Ken Guenter

Ken was hired in January 2009.   Ken began his working career as an Assistant Ranger with the Forestry Ministry in Terrace in 1971. A career in business that varied from forestry to food service, and from Iqualuit to Burns Lake. Ken is a Registered Forest Technologist and was formerly the General Manager of Burns Lake Community Forest from its inception in 1999 to November 2006.

Jocelyn Galloway
Manager of Financial Services

Formerly of Kitimat since 1979, Jocelyn has been with Community Futures 16/37 since April 1994.  Originally hired as Secretary-Bookkeeper, she was promoted to the position of full-time Bookkeeper with the onset of new funding programs in 1996 and promoted once again to Manager of Financial Services in 2002.

 

Jocelyn's background includes Northwest Community college business administration certificates as a Clerk Bookkeeper and Word Processing.  She has over 10 years of experience in the public accounting field in Kitimat and Terrace.  Jocelyn received a letter of commendation from the Board of Directors, based on approval and recommendation of the corporation's auditors.

Sally Ryan
Bookkeeper


Sally has been with Community Futures 16/37 since August 1999.   She worked for Dairyland Foods for 20 years.   Through her many years of work experience, Sally has considerable knowledge in the computer and information technology fields.

Debbie Beauregard
Administrative Assistant

Debbie has over 25 years experience in the secretarial/clerical field. Her major work has been with the Federal and Provincial Governments. Has been with Community Futures since July 2002. Debbie, through work experience, has gained considerable knowledge in the information technology field.

Larry Jones

Senior Business Analyst

Has been with the organization since May 1997 starting in the Intern position. Larry’s background includes a diploma from Northwest Community College in Business Administration. He has a certificate from the Canadian Securities Institute, which licenses him to sell stocks and bonds in Canada. He spent over 20 years in the woods industry as the owner of a contracting firm. He owned and operated a gallery making custom-designed wood and upholstered furniture.

Marty Eisner

Business Analyst

Marty has been a long time Terrace resident and a member of the Community Futures team starting here in January 2000. Marty has a diverse employment history spanning everything from banking to logging, including self-employed garage owner and equestrian trainer. Marty graduated from Caledonia High School, has a bachelor's degree in economics and will soon obtain Community Futures Certification as a Business Analyst. Marty enjoys the people aspect of his job and strongly believes in working towards a diverse economy.

Sean Gregg

Self Employment Coordinator

Sean has a background in both private and public sector employment. He has qualifications in retail management through Sears, Roebuck & Co. Sean is also a certified Staff Trainer through Human Resource Development Canada Specializing in Marketing and Employer Services. Sean has management experience with large retail operations, program administration experience with the Federal Government and most recently was a small business owner in the recreation/tourism field prior to joining the Community Futures team in February 2003.

 

Emily Suderman

Emily is a graduate of the University of Manitoba, and moved to Terrace in 2007. Having majored in Sociology, she joined the Small Business Mentoring Project to aid in the research and development of the pilot program. After traveling the major centres of the northwest and having been inspired by the business people she met along the way, she aspired to continue her career in helping businesses in the local economy. The self employment benefit program seemed an excellent fit and she is excited to expand SEB support into the Nass Valley, Stewart, the Hazeltons and Kitimat.

Maatje has over 25 years of business and consulting experience. She owned a printing company for 7 years and has project management experience in initiatives for the design, tourism and technology sectors in BC.  Her volunteer experience includes directorships for the White Rock & District Chamber of Commerce, Graphic Designers of Canada, BC Technology Industries Association, Tourism Powell River, the Powell River Regional Economic Development Society and the Northwest Science & Innovation Society.

 

Maatje has lived in northwestern BC since 2005 and joined Community Futures 16/37 in September 2008.  She sees a perfect fit between her experience in community economic development and entrepreneurship and facilitating small business success in Northwest BC through the Small Business Mentoring Project.

Val Preston
Assistant Project Coordinator

Valerie has lived in Terrace for 30 years and recently joined Community Futures 16/37 Small Business Mentoring project.  Val has over 20 years experience in the Administrative/clerical fields within a variety of settings.  She has owned and operated an independent restaurant which enabled her to hone her administrative skills as well as develop essential business skills.

 

Val has been involved in a number of community groups over the years including Terrace Beautification, Skeena Valley Fairs Association (as a board director), the Crafters Association of BC and is still involved with the Terrace Arts Association as a board director.  She enjoys crafting, fishing, motorcycling and her animals.

 

Val is looking forward to assisting in the development of the mentoring project to foster business success in the Northwest.
